About

Operator first. Advisor by design.

I'm Jason Gilbreath, an AI & data advisor to owner-led and PE-backed mid-market companies, and the principal of GITLAI, LLC, my advisory practice.

Most recently, I served as Chief Innovation Officer at MedPro Healthcare Staffing, a PE-backed firm where I led Business Intelligence and Innovation and shipped more than 20 production AI applications in a single year. Not demos, not pilots: systems running daily across the entire business. Before MedPro, I was the first Chief Innovation Officer at Triage Staffing, where I helped lead the company from $120M to $1.2B in revenue during the pandemic-driven healthcare staffing surge. Before healthcare, I spent six years at First National Bank of Omaha leading transformation initiatives that contributed to $67M in profit improvement across an $11B enterprise.

GITLAI is also not my first advisory practice. Between Triage and MedPro, I founded Next Stage Advisors, working fractionally with executives and early-stage ventures on strategy and execution, and using AI myself to deliver the work. Proof, before GITLAI, that an outside advisor can deliver working results rather than strategy decks.

Earlier, I built a company from scratch, Omaha's first reclaimed materials design and furniture business, because I needed to know what it felt like to build something with my hands before I could build systems that scale. It was profitable in year three, and I sold it in year five to an operator who still runs it today.

What connects all of it: I find the system underneath the problem, and I build the method to move past it. Right now, that means helping companies employ AI properly and make it part of how the work gets done. Capability built inside the team, not around it.

I hold a bachelor's degree and an MBA from Creighton University, and I live in Omaha, Nebraska.

What I'm thinking about right now

Which work should AI take over, and which should make your best people more powerful? Most companies automate the wrong half. The expert stuck in the bottleneck shouldn't be replaced. They should be scaled.

How does AI capability turn into enterprise value a buyer will pay for? Capability trapped in one person's head is a discount at diligence. Capability built into the team is a premium.

How do you build AI capability that outlasts the people who built it? If it walks out the door when an employee does, you didn't build capability. You moved the bottleneck.

How should a mid-market operator sequence the next twelve months of AI? Start where the knowledge is most concentrated and the risk is highest, not where the demo is flashiest.
